I find it odd that the tank is "Lucky Legs II" ... I imagine that the original wasn't so lucky?

http://www.trivia-library.com/b/origins-of-sayings-war-is-hell.htm according to this it was William T. Sherman...so that first said "War is Hell."

John Wayne also died in The Shepherd of the Hills. (Don't recall who killed him though, and that was back when he wasn't yet a "star.")

But Dern's distinction as the only known character to have killed Wayne only lasted until The Shootist was made 4 years later. The Duke was sh** in the back and killed by the bartender at the end of the movie. Ron "Opie" Howard then kills the bartender.

He died in The Cowboys as well. Bruce Dern, who killed Wayne in The Cowboys, liked to say that he played the only known character to ever kill the Duke in a movie. In Sands of Iwo Jima his killer is unknown.

Yeah I'd heard it before too. I thought it was Python but Google tells me it was David Brenner.
